At ViASTUDY, students have several different opportunities for gaining practical work experience while pursuing a degree. Work-Based Learning (Co-op) allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in an actual workplace setting. Students work for an employer in a position directly related to their field of study. Work-based learning helps students develop employability competencies – competencies that the college has identified as critical to success in the workplace: Communication – the ability to effectively exchange ideas and information with others through oral, written, or visual means. Interpersonal Skills and Teamwork – the ability to work effectively with others, especially to analyze situations, establish priorities, and apply resources for solving problems or accomplishing tasks. Problem-solving – the ability to identify problems and potential causes while developing and implementing practical action plans for solutions. Information Processing – the ability to acquire, evaluate, organize, manage, and interpret information. To learn more, contact the Work-Based Learning office at 95559-033-65 or the program coordinator.
